In Greene County district court Justin Ray Lopez, 25, of Jefferson was sentenced Nov. 16 to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance- third or subsequent offense. The prison term is concurrent to a term he is currently serving. Lopez was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. The court ruled that due his incarceration he is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. A companion case in magistrate court in which he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed, with court costs assessed to the state. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Michael Charles Donner, 48, of Chicago, IL, possession of marijuana; and Marlene Eleanor Anderson, 54, of Jefferson, unlawful possession of prescription drug (four counts) and theft- third degree. Trial dates were set for Jan. 30, 2024, in both cases.
Cases were initiated as follows; Amanda Joyce Brooks, 37, of Altoona, burglary- third degree and theft- second degree; Tyler Craig Schrier, 27, of Perry, burglary- third degree and theft- second degree; Dillon Lee Schriever, 22, of Greene, operating while intoxicated- third offense; Alysha Nicole Steece, 45, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault display or use dangerous weapon, willful injury causing bodily injury, and criminal mischief- first degree; and Jacob Thomas Monthei, 25, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense.
